Almost 1 million Kolcraft playpen-cribs recalled for hazard



Chicago-based Kolcraft Enterprises is recalling almost one million portable playpen-cribs over concerns the product poses a fall hazard to children, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Wednesday.

(Kolcraft Enterprises Inc.)The company said the recall includes the Kolcraft Travelin' Tot brand and other similar products sold under the brand names of Carter's, Sesame Street, Jeep, Contours, Care Bear and Eric Carle Play Yards.

About 14,000 of the "play yards" were sold in Canada at Wal-Mart and Toys "R" Us stores, Kolcraft said.

The company said it received 347 reports of sides of the device collapsing unexpectedly, resulting in 21 injuries to young children, including one in Canada.
